TBird Replica Kit

Post by billb » 10 Dec 2017, 11:08

Finished this a while ago from a PitBull kit.
Added an Aluma Bass Bar and basic EMG P (which I'm changing to a Dimarzio Model P shortly), Hipshot bridge and some other stuff.
I smoothed the body contours out a bit, cut the pickguard from thick acrylic sheet, primed and coloured the body with automotive rattle cans and then airbrushed the aztec calendar from a stencil. The clear is also automotive rattle can polished out with car polish.

Good fun and the Bass Bar has a great sound.

& personal opinion - this is the right shape for a bass ;)

Very nice job. I had also looked at them as the basis for a Fenderbird kit.
Happiness is .......a Telebass and 500W.

I keep looking as well.
They have RD and Vee kits also.

I sent an enquiry a few months ago but they are yet to reply. So that has muddied the water for me a bit,

Thanks all, most appreciated.
On Pitbull - quality is pretty good. I mainly buy them for the body and neck as I don;t have the tools/skills to build those bits from scratch. I was originally worried about the neck to body joint in the kits but on the two I've built (and the 3rd one underway) that fit has been really good.
The electronics/hardware is the weakest part of the kit so replace most of that.

For what you get and the leeway it gives you to do whatever you want with it I think the value is excellent. And, It's really cool to play something that you had a big hand in building. ie - just have a go and do it :)

RedVee - I've had nothing but very good service from them. Try this email:

Thanks mate. That’s the email I used, maybe I’ll give it another go.
