79 Fender Fullerton "Jazz" bass HELP NEEDED

Post by absolutlytonedeaf » 10 Dec 2017, 17:29

So Ive commited to buy this Fender 79 Fullerton Jazz bass.
no money has changed hands as yet.
Upon further inspection of Photos I discovered that it has a 79 Precision neck on a Jazz body,
obviously I cant date the body .
I spoke to the elderly lady who is selling her desceased husbands bass and
tried to get a bit of history of the bass but her husband passed away 10 yrs ago and she doesn't know anything about the specifics or history of the bass.

The price I agreed to pay was very reasonable based on a legite instrument but this changes things
Insert your advice below
cheers fellas

Not sure what your question is but i guess it comes down to how much you paid for it.

Ah, if you get it for 1k your looking good IMO. It's a tricky one because if you want to re-sell the jazz bass players will want the jazz neck..
Also buying from the widow and knowing the history (sort of) for me would mean it's a keeper

What are all the parts worth? Price it that way.

But if it plays good, sounds good & looks good, just buy it & enjoy it.

Rigs: Jule Amps - AER - GK - Bergantino - Baer

I would value it as a player and place (little or) no collectible premium on it.

+1 to that, if it's a fair price based on what it is and how it plays then do it.

The valuable Fullertons are the vintage reissues. The Standard series from that age are, well…. not that amazing.

But as others have said - if it's a nice player then great. You might get lucky with either the body or neck being a reissue part..
