Clever Idea If You Hate The Lack Of Adjustability Of Three Point Bridges

Post by veebass » 10 Dec 2017, 08:52

Saw this on TB.
Very clever.
The 'inventor" claims a big improvement in sonics as well as the obvious improvement in adjustability.

So basically, a Fender style bridge, with three post mounting. Quite clever. The Hipshot one is good too.

Hmm - beat me to it - I'm going to mess around with some screw saddles retrofitting an existing 3-pointer - parts will come in maybe Jan sometime.
The one above is a nice, simple design, if a Fender style plate was manufactured with the 3 mount-rings on it - quite fitting, and less a departure than the Hipshot - but I do like its looks too.
It still could have the problem of pulling the screw inserts out of the body, but of course you can now screw the plate right down hard against the body and use the set-screws to raise the strings. So should be less force on the body inserts, one would hope. On the prototype shown, I'd be worried about the bridge plate 'letting go' if you dug into too hard....
I'd also like to find a string tailpiece like on Greco T-Birds (and others) - that really stops the 3-point "bridge-lift"
I see..............basses!

My initial thought was that the concept could be improved using a tail piece as well to lock it all down nice and tight..
