YEE HAAW DAWGS !!!! It's new bass day around here. I just now got it up to pitch with good strings .La Bella black nylon wrap on rope core ,a step up from the Heilcores I use on the eubs.I think it's a pretty reasonable bass .I'm getting heaps of volume from the E and A string with out even trying very hard .My wife could hear it in the shower .No pics ,it looks the same but with black strings . Strings and body should settle in time for the Guitar Bros show this weekend .

The next few days I'll be watching nervously for any untoward movement .The construction is very light and has 280 lbs pressure on the top .I'm amazed they work at all.

Bill, fantastic work mate. I have been watching this since day one it was an awesome journey! Must have felt great with the first pluck of the string!

And I chop it down with the edge of my hand...

Thanks guys, I talked with a few bass players that wanted to add an eub or double to the colection. It's the effect the longer string length has on the sound that gets to them.

Only just caught up with your progress Bill. Well done! Looks killer.

not 280lbs downward pressure though 8| you only get around 10-15% of the string tension as downward force through the bridge.

how did the guitar show go?

Matthew,
Thanks. The Show went well. If you forget that Saturday morning at 6 a.m. I knocked the bass over. It broke the bridge, cut the D string, cracked the heel, and dented the top ! I've never dropped an instrument in my life and it had to be the big one. Getting everything fixed up.

For those interested, Matthew is doing a MAJOR restoration of a double bass.
Here's the link : http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?t=2900 .

It literally needs everything. So far I think he's found about a kilo of scrap metal in the instrument. If you have an instrument that needs repairing, and you've always put it off because it seemed a bit too hard, one look at this and you'll have your repair done by tomorrow afternoon.
