Re: Straps - the lowdown...

You know i never even thought about how your strap effects your playing until i switched to my current heavier bass( yes, 6 string, i know, serves me right!!) and recently started getting a bit of shoulder pain. And have since been looking for a way to try and lessen or get rid of it! So thanks for ...

Re: FS - 1990 Modulus Quantum 6 - gone to eBay starting at $1700

Damn that's nice! The quilted maple in red looks absolutely amazing!

I'd take it off your hands in a heartbeat...too bad my monetary situation prevents that from happening!

Re: Who's got their Rudy Rudd?

I got mine this past friday! Originally i didn't qualify for it, but seeing as i enrolled in study after January this year i now get it! Plus an extra $208 Pensioner Education Supplement! All going on things i need anyway, like custom orthortics for my shoes, a new mattress, and an MI Audio Tubezone...

Re: Reason why to use a stand

Oh geez! Can't believe i've gotten away unscathed with no stand for almost 8 years...although always having it in a hardcase is slightly better than leaving it against a wall i guess.
But this has convinced me to finally get a stand!

Re: quality bedroom/practice bass amp?

This may be completely obvious, but I'd highly recommend avoiding the Samick BA15! Even though i've had it for 8 years, and it was second hand when i got it, the tone it produces is really horrible and treble ridden! And if you play a 5er or 6er, if you hit the B string even slightly hard, the amp d...

Re: My new baby! (hollowbody content)

Normally i don't like the looks of hollowbody basses, but that is one nice bass!
I think you've changed my perception of them from now on!

Re: Any rev heads out there?

Hmm, you've got me there, seeing as i haven't had a speeding ticket you, alhough i've only had my licence for 3 1/2 months! Maybe theres a slight chance your suzuki would win...only one way to find out though! Speaking of school zones, on my P's test my instructor purposely booked it for after 9:30 ...

Re: Any rev heads out there?

Up against the Swift and the Festiva, i reckon my Hyundai Excel would leave you guys eating my dust! Haha. Although my first car was an 1981 Toyota Corolla KE55, which everyone was telling me i should've done it up and gotten into rally driving! Obviously that didn't happen seeing as it's now at a w...

Re: What was your first bass?

My first bass was a Blazer, which i'm told is really an Ibanez. Not sure how true that is though! It was far to big for me, ridiculously heavy, and everytime you'd fiddle with the volume or tone knobs, it'd make a horrible sound, which i later discovered was the wiring falling off! My first amp, whi...

Re: hearing in bass?

Haha, me too Derek! Although i guess one of the downsides to knowing heaps about everything, is that you can get too wrapped up in the details and intricacies of things and are then unable to just take them as they are without dissecting it. I think dissecting everything and anything 100% of the tim...

Re: Your favorite songs to play

Derek, even though i'm not that much into punk-like stuff these days, i'm still a sucker for that line in Chick Magnet!
At the moment my fave songs to play are Tears of a clown by Smokey Robinson and Chameleon by Herbie Hancock.

Re: hearing in bass?

Yep i do this too. My brother, who's a drummer, does it as well. If we're listening to something together, we're both always going "Did you hear that really cool drum/bass part?" and more often than not, he can't hear the bass part i'm talking about, and i totally missed the drum part he pointed out...

Re: Post pics of your first bass!

I don't have pics of my first bass, but like Arctopus said, it was not worth looking at or taking pictures of!
It was a Blazer(someone told me it's a ibanez rip off, not sure about that though!) my parents picked up from cash converters for $100! So glad that bass is gone!

Re: How to get started?

Josh, You beat me starting a thread about this, as i've always wondered the same thing! I've always been curious as to whether you could build some kind of enviromentally sustainable type of bass too, out of recycled/reused woods? (I don't even know if wood can be recycled though!) I guess that'd be...
