Re: New Fender Japanese Exclusive Basses

Street price seems to be about $1800 for the USA pickup models. Seems like decent value to me about half way between the MIM and MIA models.

New Fender Japanese Exclusive Basses

Has anyone tried the new Fender Japanese Exclusive basses? The 60s precision looks mint - just wish there were more colour options. http://www.fender.com.au/products/5250401300.png I didn't realise that Fender had started making basses again in Japan, the previous CIJ models were always great. I bel...

Re: Favorite Strings?

I have almost exclusively used Sadowsky Blue Label SS strings for the last few years. I went through a heap of different strings both SS and nickel and settled on them. I find they aren't quite as bright as some SS strings but brighter than nickel, feel good and sound decent even when they are dead....

Re: DIY Electronics?

I tried building a Barbershop but it didn't work out too well. It was my first try in many years at building something but I did notice that the J201 FETs looked like fakes. It turns out the J201 hasn't been manufactured for years and people take something else, sand off the original label and put ...

Re: DIY Electronics?

I have built a few pedals now. For ease on the first build I would recommend a BYOC kit which come with everything including good instructions. If you want more DIY approach you can use Vero (stripboards) and buy your own components. Search Tagboard Effects for layouts. As for buying components I pr...

OK. I'm looking closely and i can't see anything with the word " Meatbox" written on it.
Density Hulk is very similar to the DOD Meatbox (same controls pretty sure, slightly different tone), which kind of kicked off the sub-bass pedal market.

Re: The Brown Thunder

Cool. I kind of want a meatbox but I have no idea what songs it would even be useful for.

Re: RIP Carvin

I read about this a couple days ago. It's interesting that they decided to close as opposed to move manufacturing to China.

Re: Genz Shuttle is it buggered?

I would take it to a reputable tech. You could also try per on Talkbass as user Agedhorse designed and services the amps and is good at replying to posts.

Re: New Bass Day - 2017 Limited Edition Thumb Bass Nt5

Agreed, both beautiful basses. You don't mention the weight? My '90 Thumb NT 4 weighs a ton, and I'm sure these two aren't exactly light. Can't wait to go to Germany late November and do the Warwick factory tour, followed the next day by a visit to the Sandberg factory. Should be fun! Regards, Mich...

Re: GK Amps, where to set controls for flat EQ ?

Glad you got a good tone. So no preamp pedal into the GK? nup, I put my trust in you wise men:) literally all I did was shift the treble from 2 to 10 O'Clock, the others were already set to 10 2 and 2, turned off the mid scoop and db pad, master on 1/4. can't get over the punchiness I had, it could...

Re: George wins

I have had nothing but great dealings with George. l bought a Roxy bass from him and still buy all my strings from him. Auspost once lost a set of strings, George sent me the a replacement set, the original set turned up 4 weeks later (so much for express post).

Nevermind, I found a clean MIJ one for a pretty decent price.
